What is Shout A Mate?

Shout A Mate is an Australian community crowdfunding platform with 0% platform fees. Organisers raise money for a person, a cause or a community, and supporters donate by card. It is operated by Valliers Group, an Australian company (ABN 71 697 537 741).

About Shout A Mate

Does Shout A Mate charge fees?

Shout A Mate charges 0% platform fees — nothing is deducted from a donation to pay us. The only cost is the card processing fee Stripe charges, currently 1.7% + $0.30 on an Australian card. Donors are asked if they'd like to add an optional tip to cover it. With no tip, the fee comes out of the campaign's payout. Rates exclude GST.

Where tips go

What is the minimum donation?

The minimum card donation is $5. Donations are in Australian dollars. The fixed part of the card fee doesn't shrink with the gift, so very small donations would be mostly processing cost.

Who can start a campaign?

Anyone who is at least 18 years old and a resident of Australia. Organisers verify their identity and a bank account through Stripe before they can be paid, and must give accurate information and keep it up to date.

Terms of Service

How are campaigns reviewed?

Every campaign is read by a person before it goes live, usually within a day. We check that the organiser has verified their identity, that the story is coherent and specific, and that the purpose falls within our terms. A "reviewed" label means a person read it, and nothing more.

How campaigns are reviewed

When do organisers get paid?

Payouts go only to a verified Australian bank account held by the organiser, through Stripe. We estimate 7–14 days for a first payout, because Stripe checks a new account before releasing money. Later payouts are usually quicker. This is an estimate, not a promise.

What if I think a campaign is not genuine?

You can flag a concern on the Guarantee page. Flagging pauses the campaign straight away while we investigate. What the Guarantee covers, and what it does not, is set out in full there.
